Ties used to be those things you had to wear on special occasions that had you pulling at your collar and begging for release. But, now men actually want to wear them as part of their wardrobe arsenal. As more workplaces are going casual, a tie is becoming more a symbol of attitude than conformity. There are so many different ways to wear a tie, and here are just a few to get you thinking. Hint: It doesn’t even have to be around your neck.
Fit To Be Tied
1. Want a fun way to wear a tie that doesn’t include you feeling strangled all day? Try using a tie as a statement piece around your waste as a belt or folded up and used as a pocket square in your favorite blazer. Maybe you even tuck it into your back pocket and leave the ends hanging out. It’s all about choice.
2. Feel free to tuck in your tie, into your pants or your shirt, and pair it with a denim jacket instead of a blazer. Small changes can have a significant impact on your overall look and mean the difference between heading into the office for a meeting and out with friends for a drink.
3. Add a little bling to your tie with a stick pin or tie bar. Feel free to embellish it a bit, especially if it’s the only jewelry you’re wearing.
4. Here’s one for the don’t list. Don’t walk around with an untied tie around your neck unless you really are the last one to leave the party.
5. If you feel like wearing a tie but don’t want to look too formal, go ahead and unbutton that top button and loosen the knot on your tie. You can even leave your sleeve cuffs unbuttoned or the ends of your tie uneven. But, you don’t want to look disheveled. Make every fashion choice an intentional one.
